The sun is out, the flowers are in bloom and the pretty floral dresses are out of storage. You know what that means, Belles — spring is well and truly on its way! We’re only a few days away from the new season and honestly, we couldn’t be more excited! Because, who doesn’t love spring? It’s not too hot and not too cold, making it the perfect time for picnics in the park with your best girlfriends. Not only that, but spring represents change and new beginnings. Think about it: the word ‘spring’ is literally defined as “to move or jump upwards or forwards.” And that’s exactly where we want to go — onwards and upwards! So, if you’ve found yourself in a bit of a mid-year slump where you’re lacking motivation, why not use the new season as an opportunity for a fresh start? Here are 4 easy ways to spring clean your life.
1. Declutter your space
It’s called spring cleaning for a reason! Your surroundings have a huge impact on your mindset and the way you feel. So, it makes sense that if your living and working spaces are cluttered and chaotic, your mind is going to be too. On the other hand, clean and inspiring spaces can go a long way in reigniting your motivation and productivity. Start with going through your wardrobe and selling or donating the items you no longer wear, don’t fit or simply don’t make you feel like the most beautiful version of yourself. Then, spend some time de-cluttering and cleaning your home and work space — adding items that made you happy, like inspiring wall art or gorgeous scented candles.
2. Start a new skincare regime
While you’re on your spring cleaning spree, why not give your skincare collection some attention? Most of us have bottles of beauty products lying around that we no longer use, are expired (yes, they do go off!) or are loaded with harmful chemicals. This is also a great opportunity to think about whether your skincare regime is working for you. Are you using natural, non-toxic products that make your skin fresh, smooth and radiant? 3. Do a digital detox
In this day and age, our digital devices aren’t just gadgets — they’re extensions of our lives! Do you have anyone on Facebook or Instagram who makes you roll your eyes every time they post (be honest!)? Or maybe they just make you feel a little bit crappy about yourself? Life is too short for negativity, Belles — so just hit unfriend or unfollow. Then, go through your apps and website bookmarks. If you can’t remember the last time you used or visited them, go ahead and press delete!
4. Find a new hobby
Out with the old, in with the new: that’s what fresh starts are all about! So, once you’ve made room in your life by getting rid of things that no longer bring you joy, start introducing things that do! If there’s a hobby you’ve meaning to take up or a new skill you’ve been meaning to learn, now is the time to go for it. Whether it’s going to that dance class, calligraphy or learning to make your own skincare, it’s a great way to learn new things, meet cool people and gain a fresh perspective on life!
